Ayetch. Two. Oh.
We all need it. But it seems like a majority of us aren’t getting enough of it.
Now first, I would like to plant the guilt card.
About 800 million people in the world…almost one billion…do not have access to clean water. 3.4 million people die EACH YEAR from water-related diseases. Most of the people I just mentioned do not live in the US. So we are pretty blessed as far as our access to clean drinkable water. So no excuses, folks!
So now I would like to propose a challenge for the month of October: the Get Hydrated Challenge!!!
It’s pretty simple.
There is an “8 x 8″ guide to making sure you’re drinking enough water. 64 ounces a day is the commonly recommended amount of water you should be drinking every day, which breaks down into eight eight-ounce glasses of water.
You have this entire weekend before October starts to find a water bottle or jug to help you keep track of how much water you are drinking. I have a one-liter water jug that I fill up every day. A liter is a little over 33 ounces so if I get through it about twice, I am making my daily goal of 64 ounces. I found my water bottle at the dollar store so it doesn’t have to be expensive.
You want to try to finish you 64 ounces every day. Don’t panic if you fall short a day or two! But try your best to drink up and take notes of any changes in your hair and skin and even eating habits and other bodily functions over the course of the month. That’s it!
I will warn you that at first you might end up in the ladies room a little more often than usual if you aren’t used to drinking water often. But that’s not a bad thing!
Let me know if you’ll be joining the Get Hydrated challenge for October in the comments below! Are you a water drinker? Do you think you drink enough water or could you be doing a little better? What stops you from drinking water like you should?
