I climbed walls.
Jumped over fire.
Swam across murky waters.
Scrambled under barbed wire.
Crawled through tunnels.

But I survived the 5k Rebel Race!!!!!!!

It all went down on Saturday, Oct 20th in Where-Am-I, Maryland. I completed the race with four of my friends–including Jocelyn of CurlyNuGrowth!!! I came out with a few bumps, bruises and scratches, but I finished! The most tragic part of the whole race was the mud and grass it took like three shampoos to get out of my hair!!!!!!

The 5k race is over 3 miles long and includes over 20 obstacles. You can go at whatever pace you need to and for those who are racing for time, the chip attached to your bib keeps track of your time. I have to look up how long it took us to actually finish but we did pretty well!

The hardest obstacle? There was a pond with three nylon ropes stretched across it that you could use to climb over it. I tried and had to surrender to the rope. It was cutting into my legs within seconds of being on it and I ended up swimming through the gross water to get to the other side. I also managed to get my sneakers soaking wet. Bleh! By the time, our group made it to this obstacle, only two men had successfully made it across all day and zero ladies. We got to witness one more guy make it across which was pretty cool, but that was some tough stuff!

Would I do this again? Most definitely. I’m inspired to sign up for more races next year and I’ll be sure to invite you all to join me. Some pics are below!

Flex!

The Crew. Raging Rebels!!!

Me with Jocelyn! We did it!!!

Enjoying a nice cold brewski after the race with the ladies =)

The only casualty of the race. They didn’t make it back home with me =(

Nice job! I’m hoping to do one next year, but those do sound quite intimidating.
