Thanks to NaturallyCurly.com, I finally got the chance to try out the Beautiful Textures line and I must say that I’m pretty pleased with the results. I still have to give the rest of the line a try, but so far so good.

For my first run, I used these four products:

Here’s the breakdown:

The Tangle Taming Moisturizing Shampoo? Definitely a keeper. I switch shampoos kinda often (every couple of months) because I simply do not have a favorite. Even the moisturizing shampoos seem to work the same as the regular ones, leaving my hair feeling crunchy and dry before I move on to condition it. I’m rarely impressed by a shampoo, but Beautiful Textures got this one right. There’s no heavy residue from all of the moisturizing agents in the shampoo that are left behind. That crunchy feeling shampoos can give you? Nope. And my hair wasn’t a tangled mess after working the shampoo through it. Awesome.

The Rapid Repair Deep Conditioner can double as a leave-in conditioner and I would recommend it for use as a leave-in over an actual deep conditioner. I prefer thick, creamy deep conditioners and the Rapid Repair has a soft and light buttery texture. My hair had no problem drinking it right up and because of its easy absorption, the first time I used Rapid Repair I felt like I was barely rinsing out anything. Since then I have been using it as a leave-in conditioner and it is great for that.

As for the actual Tangle Taming Leave-in Conditioner, I must say I was not too impressed with it. I really wanted more slip to help me actually tame my tangles but this did not really help me with the detangling process. I gave it a couple of spins, but I really wanted more slip and more moisture from this leave-in. Now I love the Rapid Repair as a leave-in so much that I haven’t  revisited the actual Leave-in Conditioner since the first couple of tries. I did take the Tangle Taming Leave-in along with me on vacation and it gave me a nice twist-out when I used it as a moisturizer the night before. I was also glad to see it didn’t cause build up or react negatively when I used it with products that were not from the Beautiful Textures line.

After all of the washing, conditioning and detangling was done, I decided to keep it simple and try a twist-out with the Curl Control Defining Pudding.  My twist-out had decent definition–I honestly just wanted my hair to feel a little softer. I did notice a positive difference when I used the Rapid Repair as a leave-in instead of the Tangle Taming Leave-in. My hair was much fluffier and softer that time around so I’m alright with the Pudding, as long as I partner it with the right products. (The second time I used it, I got a really great bantu knot-out!)

If you’re a stickler for ingredients, I didn’t see anything offensive listed on any of the products so you can approach without fear. Also, they all have a nice “tropical” smell that doesn’t linger for too long after application–some people claim it reminds them of pineapples and other fruits!

Where can you get your hands on the Beautiful Textures line? It is available at Sally’s Beauty Supply and now Wal-Mart! You can also buy it online. All products are under $10, which is pretty awesome considering how expensive natural hair products can be.
