Have you seen this commercial?
Yes, girl. All that.
When I saw this commercial some months ago, I was already trying out the ORS Edge Control. Since they were being marketed together, I decided to give the ORS Smooth ‘n’ Hold Pudding a try, too.
Now the ORS Edge Control? I have trouble keeping it around. My friends–especially those with relaxers who are approaching their time for a touch-up or those wearing a weave–love it. They are always trying to steal it from me!!! I’ve also come to like the Smooth ‘n’ Hold Pudding more than gel. With gel, I always have to tie my hair down while it dries but I can just slick and go with the Pudding.
This week I am going to show you my results with the Pudding and Edge Control on my dry hair and next week I will put up my review on the results I get on wet hair.

What’s it feel like?
Smooth~n~Hold Pudding: Smooth to the touch. Light and buttery.

What did you do?
The directions provided on each product were straight to the point so I just stuck to those.
Smooth~n~Hold Pudding Directions:
- Massage into palms of hands. Apply to the hair and brush for even distribution. Style as usual. Ideal for smoothing ponytails.
- ***I didn’t use a brush to distribute the pudding through my hair. I relied on my hands to do all of the work. Brushes can cause stress to your hair and lead to breakage.
Edge Control Directions:
- Apply to desired area and smooth with fingertips for desired hold.
As promised, the Smooth~n~Hold Pudding doesn’t harden my hair or flake. I mentioned earlier that it doesn’t take long to dry as gel can. The only issue I’ve ever had with the Pudding is build-up after using it a few days in a row, which I guess is normal. I also have to be careful about which products I use it with.
I like the Edge Control, but it comes in much more handy when I’m slicking back wet hair, which I will be posting a review on soon. Also, don’t try to use it on much more than your edges and don’t be heavy-handed with it. The waxy texture of the Edge Control is too thick to be used on your entire head and will give you an unnaturally shiny, white or gray look (I discovered this the first time I used it, unfortunately). It really is just meant for your edges. You also have to be careful about product build-up with this over time.
So where can I get some of this stuff?!
I got both products from Target, but many beauty supply stores carry them, too. If you want to order them online? I’ve seen decent prices on Amazon for the Organic Root Stimulator Smooth-N-Hold Pudding HERE and the Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Edge Control HERE.
