KinkyFinds: The Confidence Collection from Jessicurl!
I finally finished reviewing the entire Confidence Collection by Jessicurl! This wasn’t my first experience with Jessicurl products, so I was expecting great results after a great impression the first time around. I actually used the Too Shea! and Confident Coils to prep my hair for my shoot with Jessicurl at Fro Fashion Week in Atlanta! However, that was just for styling purposes and I didn’t get the whole wash and conditioning experience. This time around I took my time and used all of the products in the Jessicurl Confidence Collection: the Hair Cleansing Cream, the Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner, the Deep Conditioning Treatment and the Confident Coils Styling Solution. Here are a couple pics from my first time using Jessicurl products…
My twist-out turned out great and I was really happy with the results. Now on to the review!
Okay. I will introduce all of the products in the collection in the order that I used them and share my opinion of each one. Cool?
First up…
Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Decyl Polyglucose, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Vegetable Glycerin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, PEG 150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate
Directions: Shake bottle, wet hair well and massage into scalp to create a light lather. Finger comb lather through length of hair and rinse well. You may not get a ton of lather the first time though but your hair will be clean. If you want more lather, repeat the cleansing process. Don’t bunch your hair up on the top of your head as this will create tangles. After rinsing, follow with your favorite Jessicurl conditioner.
I am always nervous about trying new shampoos, but I actually liked how gentle the Hair Cleansing Cream was on my hair! I prefer a little bit more lather in my shampoos (I know that’s usually a visual thing and doesn’t speak to the effectiveness of the shampoo, but I can’t help it!). However, my scalp and hair got clean without the stripped feeling–I hate when my hair feels scruffy after a shampoo! I also appreciated the lack of tangles in my hair after using the cleansing cream and was able to run my fingers through parts of my hair without too much resistance.
Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner
Ingredients: Water (Aqua) infused with Equisetum Maximum Lam (Horsetail), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Laurus Nobilis (Bay Leaf), Ocimum Basilicum (Basil), Arctium Lappa (Burdock Root), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Origanum Vulgare (Oregano), Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass), Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme), Salvia Officinalis (Sage) and Urtica Dioica (Nettle); Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Hydrolyzed Oat Flour, Soy Lecithin, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate
Directions: Apply to wet hair, comb through and rinse after 3-5 minutes. Follow with your favorite Jessicurl styling products. Too Shea can also be left in for all day moisture on dry curls or used as a deep conditioner for finer hair that gets weighed down easily.
This is my favorite Jessicurl product that I’ve tried. Hands down. I plan on getting my hands on a massive bottle of this stuff as soon as I run out. My roomie used it before I did and she kept telling me to hurry up and try it, but I was lolly-gagging! The Too Shea! conditioner had my hair feeling amazing! It detangled like a dream for me. I’ve used it as a conditioner and a moisturizer when setting a twist-out and it’s great for both uses! I actually took a pic of my hair after using Too Shea! because I loved how my hair felt:
Deep Conditioning Treatment
Ingredients: Water (Aqua) infused with Equisetum Maximum Lam (Horsetail), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Laurus Nobilis (Bay Leaf), Ocimum Basilicum (Basil), Arctium Lappa (Burdock Root), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Origanum Vulgare (Oregano), Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass), Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme), Salvia Officinalis (Sage) and Urtica Dioica (Nettle); Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Soy Lecithin, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate
Directions: Apply to clean, wet hair, comb through and let it settle in for 30-60 minutes. For even more intense conditioning, use with heat, such as the Hair Therapy Wrap. Rinse and style as usual. This can be used daily or as a leave-in conditioner for thicker, drier curl types.
I have used the Deep Conditioning Treatment as both a deep conditioner and a leave-in. I really like it as a DC since it is a little heavy to use as a daily moisturizer on my fine hair. My hair was really easy to detangle once I rinsed the DC out, especially after using my fav Too Shea! conditioner before. I’ve left the DC Treatment in my hair for about 45 minutes and I’ve left it in for only 15 minutes before. Either way, my hair was left super soft and shiny. I noticed less frizz than usual as well which is always a plus!
Confident Coils Styling Solution
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, VP/VA Copolymer, Polyimide-1, C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Polysorbate 60; Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salt), Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate
Directions: Use Confident Coils with Jessicurl Rockin’ Ringlets or Gelebration Spray for extra curl enhancement or alone to give tighter curls definition and hold. Distribute evenly through soaking wet hair and scrunch to encourage curls or finger-comb to elongate. Air dry or dry with a diffuser. This stuff is pretty concentrated, so less is more. If your hair is fine and gets weighed down easily, use a very small amount at first and increase from there if you need more hold.
I’m not a wet and go type of girl so I set twist-outs with the Confident Coils Styling Solution. Remember those pics I posted earlier showing my first twist-out with this stuff? It was raining and drizzling the whole day and my hair survived! Yes, I still gained a little volume which is natural in humidity, but my twist-out stayed defined and shiny all day! I was shocked!
