Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending another ZuriWorks workshop! This one focused on protective styling and featured Jane Carter and her awesome product line.

The “It’ll Grow Back” Natural Hair and Health Seminar Seminar series is a community-based cancer health and education program. Through culturally-specific beauty-based seminars, women of African descent are engaged about their hair and their health. Medical doctors, health professionals, community organizers, artists, chefs, artists and practitioners in the natural hair care industry are featured in these seminars to insure the most accurate level of education.

This seminar featured:

  • Jane Carter, Jane Carter Solution
  • Monte Harris, MD. FACS, DO GOOD H.A.I.R.
  • Adrienne Carthon, Ph.D., Naturally Nadine
  • Denise Hart, MFA, Professor–Howard University, Theatre Arts Dept.
  • Dr. Carla Williams, Howard University Cancer Center Women of Promise

I took a TON of notes. The speakers were all very knowledgeable and passionate and they shared a great deal of information to encourage us to “Protect your hair, protect your health.” I attend natural hair events all of the time so I always get excited when I learn something new and different from what I have heard before. The Howard University Theatre Arts Department also put on a few great skits about the importance of health screening and some common natural hair issues. I had a great time meeting and connecting with everyone at the seminar. Check out the pics below!
